Congressman Thompson Hosts Annual Agriculture Summit at Mount Aloysius College
Federal and State Leaders Gather to Discuss Pandemic's Impact on Agriculture
CRESSON, PA – U.S. Representative Glenn ‘GT' Thompson hosted the second annual Agriculture Summit yesterday at Mount Aloysius College. Joined by USDA Under Secretary Bill Northey, Pennsylvania Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding, and Pennsylvania Farm Bureau President Rick Ebert, Congressman Thompson led a round table discussion addressing the impact of COVID-19 on agriculture and the status of the next relief package.
"I look for opportunities to engage directly with farmers, ranchers and producers," said Rep. Thompson. "This year's agriculture summit provided valuable feedback about how the pandemic has affected rural America—feedback that will be critical as Congress continues to address the impacts of COVID-19 upon the agricultural sector."
The panelists were joined by nearly 100 virtual attendees for a discussion. The summit can be viewed in its entirety below.
