Washington, D.C. – U.S. Representative Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson, R-Howard, today announced the 5th Congressional District will participate in the nationwide Congressional High School Art Competition. Thompson this week sent a letter to 5th District high schools communicating submission guidance and encouraging participation.

“I am proud to announce that our Congressional District will once again participate in the nationwide Congressional High School Art Competition,” Rep. Thompson wrote.  The competition is sponsored by the Congressional Arts Caucus and coordinated by Members of Congress in their districts.

All entries for the 2013 competition must be received by Wednesday, May 1st at 5:00 PM. The judging will take place at the Winkler Gallery of Fine Art in DuBois, Pa., on the same date. The winning entry will be announced, along with all art displayed publically, at the Winkler Gallery on Saturday, May 4th from 2:00 to 4:00 PM.

“The Congressional High School Art Competition gives Members of Congress and the public an opportunity to foster and encourage the artistic talents of young Americans,” stated Rep. Thompson. “The winning entry from Pennsylvania’s 5th Congressional District will be exhibited in a display along a hallway in the United States Capitol.”
