Thompson Issues Statement on President’s Veto on Keystone XL Pipeline

Feb 24, 2015 Issues: Energy

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson (PA-05) issued the following statement after President Obama vetoed S.1, The Keystone XL Pipeline Approval Act.

“Despite bipartisan support from both the House and Senate, the President has vetoed the Keystone XL Pipeline Project in the name of political expediency.  Rather than carry out the will of the American people, this veto kowtows to a vocal minority of extreme environmental groups.  The President’s veto is a giant leap backwards on our road to energy independence, effectively saying ‘no’ to the creation of over 40,000 American jobs and lower energy prices for businesses and families.”
