Jun 9, 2010

Washington, D.C.—DuBois Business College this year celebrates 125 years of education for the people of the area.

In recognition of their longevity, U.S. Representative Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson today read a statement of congratulations on the floor of the House of Representatives.

He said of the College, “They pride themselves on a small student-to-teacher ratio and a stellar success rate for students.  From legal assistants to clinical medical assistants, the College has spent decades helping move people into careers with a future and a good paycheck.”

He concluded, “It is my pleasure to congratulate this institution on its anniversary and to wish them continued success and growth.”

Jackie Syktich, president and Chief Executive Officer at the College, said, “DBC has a rich heritage of training students in two-year degree programs that make them job ready upon graduation!  We excel in business and technical programs.  We provide the ‘skilled workforce’ in today’s job market and watch those graduates succeed to be business and industry leaders.”

Thompson noted that the DuBois Business College will hold an open house and tours of their newly remodeled facility and new student annex as part of their commemorative celebration this Saturday, June 12th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at One Beaver Drive.

The school will also sponsor the State College band, “Velvetta,” at the Edward V. Cherry Amphitheater at Memorial Park at 3:30 p.m.

This coincides with Community Days in the greater DuBois area that will be celebrated this Friday, Jun 11th, beginning at 5 p.m. and continuing into Saturday.
