Bellefonte, PA – Today, U.S. Representative Glenn 'GT' Thompson (PA-5) announced the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has awarded a grant in the amount of $85,000.00 to Penn Highlands Healthcare (PHH) in DuBois.  The grant, which was issued by HHS’s Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), will support PHH’s Children’s Healthcare Integration Network (CHIN) planning project.

“I am pleased to announce that Penn Highlands Healthcare in DuBois will be the recipient of this funding,” stated Rep. Thompson. “This initiative will support Penn Highland’s efforts to foster greater collaboration among area care providers and improve care integration for our community’s youth population and their families.”

The CHIN planning project, which includes PHH, Dickinson Center, Inc., in Ridgway, PA, and the Clearfield and Elk County offices of the Pennsylvania Department of Health, will focus on collaborative strategies to improve care services with a focus on youth with chronic and behavioral health conditions.

“The mission of our organization is to provide improved access to primary care and specialty care throughout our system,” said Ray Graeca, Chief Executive Officer of Penn Highlands Healthcare. “This grant helps Penn Highlands Healthcare and the Dickinson Center meet these goals for an age group that often falls through the cracks in a rural setting. We are extremely thankful that HRSA has chosen to financially support this initiative and look forward to expanding physical and mental healthcare access for children in the Penn Highlands region.”

“HRSA's $85,000 award to support the Penn Highlands Healthcare System in the development of the Children's Health Integration Network is welcomed news, indeed,” stated John Goga, Chief Executive Officer, Dickinson Center.  “This research planning grant will solidify a more integrated and comprehensive level of healthcare services for children in our region. Dickinson Center looks forward to the collaborative opportunity to partner with both the Department of Health and the Penn Highlands Healthcare System on this planning grant initiative.”
