Thompson Announces Federal Grant for J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital

BELLEFONTE, PA – Today, U.S. Rep. Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson announced a federal grant in the amount of $100,000.00 from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) to J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital. The grant will be used to help plan and promote the development of J.C. Blair’s healthcare network..

“These funds will go a long way to strengthen healthcare delivery in our community. As we move into the future, it will be necessary to achieve efficiencies and increase quality and access to critical care. I applaud the commitment of J.C. Blair Health System to innovate and take into account the many challenges that arise when providing services to rural communities,” said Rep. Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson.

The funding has been made available through the Health Resources and Services Administration’s Rural Health Network Development Planning Grant Program. The goal of the program is assist providers in serving their communities given the changes taking place in health care by expanding access and improving quality of services through the development of healthcare networks.

“In the face of new health care strategies such as integrated behavioral health, health care systems need to work together to plan, develop, and lay the groundwork for a quality sustainable program. This funding provides J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital the opportunity to develop a network of organizations dedicated to a collaboration that focuses on integrating mental health and substance abuse care with primary physical health care,” said Adam Dimm, J.C. Blair Health System CEO.
