Media Advisory: Thompson to Discuss Youth Training for Jobs in In-Demand Industries

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Representative Glenn “GT” Thompson (R-PA) will join on Wednesday, Aug. 5, from 1:30-3 p.m., with officials from several workforce development boards, along with local officials, in hosting a roundtable discussion regarding youth engagement through the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA.) This law is designed to enhance coordination among federal, state and local workforce training programs and services helping the workforce training system better identify employment in high-demand industries.

WHO: Thompson, Pennsylvania State Sen. Joe Scarnati (Invited), State Rep. Matt Gabler (Invited), along with representatives from the North Central Planning and Development Commission and the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry.

WHAT: Discussion will focus on the assistance available through WIOA for youth, including career explorations and guidance, along with the opportunity for training in industries which are in-demand.
